A report on Two days Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) Organized on 21st and 22nd December 2010 In association with MITCON Consultancy Ltd. Pune

Commerce Department of the Modern college, Ganeshkhind runs Entrepreneurship Development Cell to create awareness among our students about entrepreneurship, to motivate and guide them to make their career as entrepreneur and to provide common platform for them to explore entrepreneurial competencies. In the same context college had organized two days Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) in association with MITCON Consultancy Ltd. Pune from 21st to 22nd Dec.2010.

EAC was inaugurated by Mr. Dilip Kumbhojkar who is successful first generation entrepreneur. He shared his experiences and his journey with the students. He appreciated initiative taken by college in organizing EAC for students. Principal Dr. Sanjay Kharat was present for inauguration and guided the students.

On 21st Dec 2010, first session was conducted by Mrs. Meghana Jain, on the topics of Entrepreneurship as career option as well as the Entrepreneurs competencies. She explained the opportunities available in entrepreneurship development. She also talked about the competencies of the successful entrepreneurs with example. In post lunch session Mr. Ajay Raka, successful entrepreneur interacted with the students. He shared his journey with students and addressed their queries. In last session, Meghana Jain guided students on the topics of 'Case study and Presentation'. She divided students in twelve groups with separate product to each group and asked to prepare presentation about it., first day was ended with the presentation of these groups.

Second day was started with the session on the topic of "Business Plan preparation" by Mr. R.G. Vaidya. In his session he explained the importance and the components of business plan. In Second session Mr. Shridhar Unhelkar, retired Dy. GM of Central Bank of India, guided students on the topic of "Role of Banks". He explained the importance banks in creating employment and increasing GDP of the nation. In his question answer session he solved student's queries.

Dr. S.G. Bapat, Management consultant was the chief guest of Valedictory function of the EAC. He guided students about entrepreneurship development with the examples of successful entrepreneurs and their competencies. Students shared their experience and reflected the satisfaction about camp through their speeches. The function and thereby the camp was concluded with the distribution of the certificates to the participants. Prof. Avinash Kharat worked as coordinator for the camp.

The faculty of Commerce is a major wing of the college; having more than 1500students. It was established in 1992. It offers various undergraduate courses like B.Com; B.B.A. and B.C.A. and Postgraduate course M.Com. The faculty has maintained a combination of Academicians and Professionals in the areas of Law; Costing and Management. The objective of the Faculty is not only to enrich students academically, but also to develop their entire personality. To achieve this goal we conduct various activities throughout the year.   • College Social Responsibility Club under the guidance of Mrs. Prerana Suru : 10 Groups of S.Y.B.Com students visited and contributed to various NGOs in the form of Helping old age people, Teaching in orphanage, entertainment programmes for them, distribution of food items, grains, books and toys , tree plantation etc.
  • COST FEST : Every year Cost Fest is organized for the students who have opted costing as special subject. Objectives of Cost Fest are to bridge gap between education and industry and to make students aware about practical aspects of costing techniques. This year Cost Fest was organized for three days. It was inaugurated in the hands of Mr Nandkumar Nikam (Resident editor of Sakal).
  • Career Guidance Programme was organized for T Y B Com students to make them aware about different career opportunities in various fields.
  • Business Quiz “Quiz Bee” was arranged for Commerce students.
  • Photography Competition was conducted on themes like Back to School, GO Green, Celebration and Street photography.

    • MAGNIT : The department of BCA/MCA(Commerce) under faculty of Commerce organizes “MAGNIT” activity every year . This event comprises of various competitions. The objective of this event is to explore and promote talents amongst the students.
    • Aptitude test : Aptitude tests are structured systematic ways of evaluating how students perform on tasks or react to different situations. The objective to conduct such test is to develop time management, creativity and determination amongst the students. It helps students to develop ability to quickly learn new skills. This activity is conducted every month in the department.
    • Guest Lectures : BCA and MCA Commerce is the blend of computer application, management and commerce. The main objective of conducting Guest Lectures in the department is to enlighten students and staff members about the new trends in the said fields which can help to know about new technology and cope up with the gap between the curriculum and Industry.
